Josh Hartnett didn't have to look far for inspiration for the role of his latest cold-blooded character.
Josh Hartnett Modeled 'Trap' Killer After People in Our Industry
The actor explained that he modeled his role as a serial killer in M. Night Shyamalan's Trap after certain "people in our industry," while revealing how he and the director made sure audiences could relate to the character.
"Night Being Night, he wants to give the audience a new experience," Hartnett told Entertainment Weekly. "He's been doing this his whole career. He takes a ghost story and tells it from the perspective of the ghost. He takes an alien invasion story and doesn't really show the aliens. So this is like a throwback thriller in a locked room from the perspective of the antagonist. It's like Die Hard from the perspective of Hans Gruber."
Trap follows Cooper (Hartnett), a father who takes his daughter Riley (Ariel Donoghue) to a big concert, where the police have launched an undercover operation to capture The Butcher, the name given to Cooper's murderous activities.
