JUST IN: Isaac Hayes III, Trump's lawyers respond to judge ruling that ex-POTUS can't use Isaac Hayes' music
Many artists and songwriters have objected to the use of their songs as part of Donald Trump's presidential campaign, but actual legal rulings have been harder to come by. One such edict came about Tuesday when a federal judge in Georgia issued a temporary injunction ordering the Trump campaign to stop using the Sam & Dave '60s soul classic "Hold On, I'm Comin'" at rallies.
Trump representatives told reporters they would comply, but the song had already been pulled from the campaign.
It was used as the former president's farewell music at many rallies and was even played after his speech at the Republican National Convention in July, although that version was performed live by a cover band — like much of the RNC music — rather than the original recording heard during the proceedings.
