Judi Dench breaks down in tears remembering Maggie Smith | Emotional tribute
When Dench was asked about Smith's death at the age of 89 and the deaths of his friend and collaborator Barbara Leigh-Hunt, he burst into tears during a conversation on Saturday at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.
"I think the energy that grief creates…" Dench began, before, according to The Times, she choked up after interviewer Brendan O'Hea asked her what she meant when she compared her grief over the death of her late husband Michael Williams in 2001 to petrol.
Smith “passed away peacefully” on Friday, September 27, her sons Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin announced in a joint statement.
