Justine Bateman on How Hollywood Has Changed Since Her Family Ties Days
EXCLUSIVE: Justine Bateman has been warning about the corrosive reality of generative AI for the creative community long before most people started paying attention to the rise of the machines. Now, the Violet director is bringing her SOS to the big screen with an AI-free film festival.
The CREDO 23 Film Festival, making its LA debut in 2025, promises to be a “filmmaker-first, no-AI event” that is “real and pure.”
“With studios, streamers, and now film festivals embracing generative AI, it was time for the CREDO 23 Film Festival,” Bateman told Deadline today of the new festival’s inspiration and timeliness. “It creates a tunnel for human artists through the theft-based, job-replacing AI destruction. The festival will honor the incredible human artists who make films and provide funding for human filmmakers to continue doing so.”
