Kaitlyn Dever's role in the upcoming second season of HBO's The Last of Us is apparently already causing a stir.
The Last of Us needed 'extra' security on set due to fan 'hate' for character Kaitlyn Dever!
Her Season 2 co-star Isabela Merced claimed that Dever needed security on the set of the video game-based drama to protect against people who "genuinely hate" her character Abby Anderson, a soldier who comes into conflict with Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey).
"There are so many strange people in this world because there are people who really hate Abby, who is not a real person," Merced said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. "Kaitlyn had to be extra protected by security when it came to filming."
In addition to Abby's role as the antagonist to Ellie and Joel (Pedro Pascal), some video game fans have also expressed hatred towards the character due to her appearance and false speculation that she is transgender. Others have complained that Dever is not muscular enough to play the role.
