During the screening of Kalki 2898 AD at this year's Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt told Deadline that one of their goals is to secure distribution for the film in China and Korea.

With a global box office gross of $140 million, sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD is set to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024. With a reported budget of around Rs 600 crore ($72 million), the film is also estimated to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani.
Kalki 2898 AD sequel and other films in production
A second installment is on the way, and the producers, who are also sisters, said that about 35 to 40 percent of filming on the sequel has been wrapped. They plan to resume production in the second quarter of 2025 and wrap the film by the end of the year — and hope to continue expanding the Kalki Cinematic Universe with many more titles.
