Inside Kamala Harris' decision to pass over Josh Shapiro as her vice presidential pick
EXCLUSIVE: If all goes according to plan, America and the world will know in the coming hours who Kamala Harris has chosen as her running mate against Donald Trump and J.D. Vance. However, in the corridors of Hollywood power and money, an overwhelming favorite has emerged .
“Josh Shapiro,” an agency executive declared in a statement that reverberated through the city today. “Pennsylvania wins the election,” the executive promptly added, explaining why the state’s Keystone Stone governor would be the best fit for the slightly more than two weeks-long bid by the vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee to enter the White House in a still-tense Electoral College battle with Trump.
With the Veep decision coming up in the nick of time before the Democratic convention in Chicago, which begins August 19, Governor Shapiro, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) met individually with the vice president this weekend at her official residence in the DC area. While Harris spent most of the day in the Situation Room, where President Joe Biden was briefed on a conflict between Israel and Iran over the killing of a Hamas leader last month, the VP's rumor mill has been on running at full speed, with Shapiro in the spotlight.
