The Speed star was competing in the first race of the Toyota GR Cup alongside Cody Jones of the sports and comedy group Dude Perfect. He briefly veered off the track but was not injured, the Associated Press reported.
Midway through the 45-minute race, Reeves spun on the grass without impact at the exit of Turn 9. He rejoined the race after reporting he was uninjured and ultimately finished 25th of the 35 competitors with a high placing of 21. He also avoided a first-lap crash at Turn 14.
The Matrix actor competed in the Toyota spec racing series (in which racers drive identical or very similar vehicles from the same manufacturer or supplier), classified as a support series (a lower class of racing that can help players progress further) during this weekend's Indy 8 Hour event. He is scheduled to compete in a second race tomorrow.
