The Grammy Award winner struggled despite technical difficulties and bad weather as rain poured down along the Seine during her performance of "Mon Truc en Plumes" in honor of French star Zizi Jeanmaire. The set reportedly took place hours before the broadcast.
According to the Associated Press, Gaga was spotted warming up on stage about three hours before the ceremony began and then performing for about an hour. She waved to fans as she left the stage.
Maud le Pladec, choreographer of the opening ceremonies for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, told Variety that Gaga's surprise performance was the only one that "had to be shot late in the afternoon for security reasons, when we knew for sure it was going to rain. We were getting minute-by-minute updates, we had never watched the weather forecast so closely before."
