The House of the Dragon season 2 finale has left fans wondering about the Lannister family tree in Game of Thrones lore. Episode 8, titled “The Queen Who Ever Was,” dropped a major easter egg featuring Tywin Lannister, leaving people wondering how the iconic Game of Thrones character is related to House of the Dragon’s Tyland and Jason Lannister. Here’s everything we learned about the same.

How Jason and Tyland Lannister are related to Tywin and Tyrion in the Lannister family tree

Tyland Lannister is the twin brother of Jason, who is directly related to Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones. The season 2 finale of House of the Dragon introduces Admiral Sharako Lohar, who refers to Tyland as "Lord Tywin," "Tyman," and "Tyrod" before using his proper name. Her jibe with him serves as a humorous throwback for fans of Game of Thrones' Twyin Lannister.

While Tyman and Tyrod weren't Lannister names, Tywin was one of the most important names in the family tree that drove the Game of Thrones story as the father of Tyrion, Cersei, and Jamie Lannister. As for their relationship to the two Lannister twins of House of the Dragon, they are all direct descendants of Jason Lannister.

Both Jason and Tyland were born sometime between 89-97 AC. Jason Lannister died in 130 AC while Tyland Lannister lived until 133 AC. Meanwhile, Tywin Lannister was born over 100 years later, in 242 AC, and died in 300 AC.
