BREAKING: Kyle Chandler to Play Hal Jordan in HBO's 'LANTERN' Series! BIG WIN for the DCU!
It's official: Emmy winner Kyle Chandler has joined the cast of Lanterns, HBO's buzzed-about series based on the DC comic Green Lantern. As Deadline exclusively reported last month, the Emmy winner was in talks to play Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern character played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film. After a search, Aaron Pierre has just been cast as co-lead John Stewart.
The series from Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and comic book writer Tom King follows newcomer John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic agents who find themselves caught up in a dark, earthly mystery while investigating a murder in the American heartland.
The eight-episode Lanterns is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who will serve as showrunner, Lindelof and King are co-writers and executive producers. James Hawes will direct the first two episodes and will also executive produce.
