Trump Assassination Attempt and Judge Cannon's Shocking Ruling in Mar-a-Lago Docs Case: A Closer Look

Late-night hosts Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert opened their shows Monday night with somber monologues following Saturday's assassination attempt on Donald Trump, while Jimmy Fallon dodged the topic.

Meyers began his monologue by saying that he would get to the jokes soon, but first he wanted to reflect on "the horrific scenes we saw in Pennsylvania on Saturday and at this charged moment in American history. I want to reiterate what so many have said: Political violence must be rejected in all its forms. It is both morally wrong and a poison to democracy. We must all condemn it and reject it and do everything in our power to stop it."

Meyers then criticized Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, Trump's pick for vice president, for "choosing to make matters worse" at a very difficult time.
