Despite it being in the franchise's name, Princess Zelda has never starred in her own video game in the 38-year history of the “Legend of Zelda” franchise — until now.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom – The Final Preview

The upcoming "The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom" gives you control of everyone's favorite Hyrule princess in a mainline series for the first time ever. Sure, Zelda has been playable in spinoffs like "Super Smash Bros.," "Cadence of Hyrule" and "Hyrule Warriors," but now she's getting her own full-fledged game, complete with weapons, dungeons and a dizzying array of abilities. Watch out, Link, because Zelda is not messing around in "Echoes of Wisdom."

Longtime hero and silent protagonist Link is absent from Hyrule in Nintendo’s latest adventure, which is decorated in the same cute, colorful palette as 2019’s “Link’s Awakening” remake. The game’s opening moments reveal that Link has once again saved Zelda and the rest of the world from supervillain Ganon. But mysterious interdimensional rifts open in Hyrule, transporting Link, the king, and others into the Still World. Left alone with a fairy friend named Tri, Zelda must flip the script and save Link once and for all.

With the all-new Tri Rod, Zelda is well-equipped for her first adventure. Using the magical device, Zelda can create an exact copy—called an “echo”—of certain items and defeated enemies in the game. These echoes add up quickly and include flying Keeses, spear-wielding Moblins, sword-wielding Darknuts, bouncing trampolines, heavy boulders, healing beds, fiery Ignizols, and dozens more.
