I wish I could read this science fiction series for the first time
Seveneves follows the best scientists coming to the same conclusion after a meteor shatters the moon into seven pieces: In two years, all people on Earth will be destroyed by a “hard rain” that will render the planet uninhabitable. In a frantic race against the inevitable, countries around the world join forces to devise a plan to ensure humanity’s survival, ushering in a new chapter for mankind.
Seveneves was published in 2015 by William Morrow. It won the Prometheus Award for Best Novel and was chosen by President Obama for his Summer Reading List.
Stephenson, the bestselling author of Anathem, Reamde, and Cryptonomicon, is also a respected technologist and futurist. He was the first employee at Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and served as Chief Futurist for Google-backed Magic Leap for seven years. In his work, Stephenson coined the term “metaverse,” popularized the term “avatar” in a computing context, and outlined the basis for cryptocurrency.
