Remembering Leonardo Engelman: The Legacy of a Legendary Makeup Artist
Leonard Engelman, who lobbied the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to establish a makeover department and served as its first governor, died Thursday at age 88 at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
His death was confirmed by the Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles, but no cause of death has been given.
Engelman worked on films such as Rocky IV, The Princess Diaries, Batman & Robin and How the Grinch Stole Christmas and did Cher's makeup for over 30 years.
