President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday directed local governments to encourage the vulnerable sector to receive the bivalent Covid-19 booster.
Let seniors, people with comorbidities get bivalent shots, Marcos to LGUs
“We now call on all LGUs to encourage those who fall into the vulnerable category to take this bivalent vaccine,” Marcos Jr. said during the launch of the bivalent booster at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City.
While vaccines have reduced the severity of Covid-19, the president said the new variants still pose a significant risk to the elderly and people with health conditions.
“We must not let our guard down. Although we, the rest of society, the other sectors of our society have tried to move on and say that the emergency is over… it is not completely over yet and therefore we must not be complacent,” Marcos Jr. said.
