MRI-Simmons’ Fall 2023 “USA Study” answers a burning question that still lives in our current political discourse: Which party is participating the most?
A message from a Trump supporter to liberals
The results aren’t exactly a blue wave — maybe a blue tidal wave. Regardless, among U.S. adults surveyed, Democrats are more likely to subscribe to nearly all major streaming platforms than Republicans.
That “almost” comes from Paramount+, which just barely has a predominantly conservative audience. Netflix, Hulu and Max subscribers are mostly blue, at more than 10 percent each, while the rest are pretty much neck-and-neck.
While the survey itself doesn’t speculate on the “why” behind those numbers, a look at the programming may provide some insight. For starters, Paramount+ is home to blue-collar procedurals like “NCIS” and “Blue Bloods,” as well as spinoffs to hit “Yellowstone,” with its rural setting, all of which tend to draw more conservative audiences.
