In the late 1980s, when future "SportsCenter" legend Linda Cohn was trying to make a career out of cable news on Long Island, she made a big batch of chocolate chip cookies for her cameraman one day. It was a bribe to get him to stay late to help her film a sports report she was sending to TV stations in her quest for her dream job as a sports anchor.
Luckily for Cohn, KIRO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Seattle, gave her a chance. The Long Island native spent a little more than two years covering sports in the Pacific Northwest before getting the endorsement that would change her life. There were no baked goods in sight when Cohn moved back across the country in 1992 to join ESPN and the formidable bench of anchors that hosts its flagship news program, “SportsCenter.”
