“Working with the amazing team of filmmakers was a great experience. We agreed that the raw rock and electronic approach fits the world and the characters, and also supports the fun and humor throughout the film. The rock-electronic instrumentation is also sonically related to the music from the video games,” Jablonksy said of the Borderlands soundtrack.
“At the same time, our characters are going through an epic journey with a dramatic climax, and this is where I use the orchestra. As the story progresses, the score gradually changes from dark and grim to dramatic and orchestral.”
