Locarno Film Festival
Experimental feature Dream of Another Summer has won the Antaviana Films First Look Award at Locarno Pro, the top prize given out by the festival’s industry section. The award includes post-production services of up to €50,000.
The film is directed by Barcelona-born, Beirut-based filmmaker Irene Bartolomé. The project is produced by Pere Marzo (Colibrí Studio), Bartolomé (IB Films) and Elie Kamal (The Attic Productions).
Discussing their choice, the Locarno Pro jury, composed of Beatrice Fiorentino (artistic director of the International Film Critics' Week in Venice), Kerem Ayan (director of the Istanbul Film Festival) and Mercedes Martínez-Abarca (programmer of the International Film Festival Rotterdam), said that the film is “a poetic and rigorous project that builds on collective trauma by rewriting the topography of a city wounded many times by history.”
