Madden 25 | Deep Gameplay Dive
EA Sports has previously teased the upcoming game's Boom Tech physics system. Fans get to see it in action in the latest Madden NFL 25 gameplay trailer, which starts with a look at physics-based tackling. The game breaks tackling down into three phases: pre-impact, impact, and post-impact. During pre-impact, ball carriers anticipate the incoming defender and prepare for a hit. This allows players to change direction or perform moves like jukes and trucks.
At impact, the game engine takes into account factors such as angle, weight, speed, power, momentum and player ratings. A smaller defender may not be able to stop the ball carrier, while a larger defender may be able to stop them.
The Madden NFL 25 gameplay trailer also details the game's reloaded hit stick. The skill-based mechanic takes angle and timing into account when executing tackles. Meanwhile, the game's ball carrier balance system takes momentum and direction of impact into account to create realistic broken tackles, stumbles and recoveries. This goes hand in hand with the ball carrier revamp, which introduces more combos and offers greater skill move control. The game also takes fakeouts into account, allowing AI-controlled players to fall for feints and react accordingly.
