Madonna speaks out about brother Christopher Ciccone's death | E! News
After reports emerged Friday that Ciccone had died in Michigan from complications of cancer, his seven-time Grammy-winning sister shared a heartfelt statement on social media mourning his loss.
"My brother Christopher is gone. He was the closest person to me for so long," she wrote under the post. "It's hard to explain our bond. But it was born out of the realization that we were different and that society would give us a hard time because we didn't follow the status quo. We held hands and danced through the madness of our youth."
Ciccone grew up dancing, joining the Montreal troupe La Groupe de La Place Royal before working as a backup dancer for Madonna early in her career, appearing in the video for her 1983 song "Lucky Star". He also directed her Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990, in addition to directing music videos for Dolly Parton and Tony Bennett.
