House of Representatives Committee on Information and Communications Technology Chairman and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco praised the signing of the implementing rules and regulations for the law increasing the school supplies allowance for public school teachers.
Tiangco and Gonzales angry in budget debate
“Teachers in public schools are still facing various challenges, so this additional allowance will help alleviate some of their burdens and worries in fulfilling their duties as teachers. It is possible to get an additional allowance that may not last long to help the guest in the classroom,” Tiangco said.
Under the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo law, the annual school supplies allowance for public school teachers will be increased from P5,000 to P10,000 starting next year.
“The teacher may have been given a good card but he may not be able to take advantage of the fact that he cannot help any student to focus on his studies,” he said.
