Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and City Football Group (CFG), the parent company of English Premier League champions Manchester City, have entered into a strategic deal to jointly develop and produce scripted, non-fiction and children's programming for a global audience.
The plan will combine CFG’s global network, sporting expertise and access to football talent, facilities and its City Studios production arm with SPT’s production expertise. CFG’s primary focus is on Manchester City, which has dominated English football for the past decade and won the Champions League in a three-game winning season in 2022/23, but also has ownership stakes in New York City FC, Melbourne City, Mumbai City, Troyes, Montevideo City Torque, Lommes, Bahia and Palermo and minorities in several other teams.
