President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Eli Remolona as the new governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) announced on Friday.

Remolona will replace Governor Felipe Medalla when his six-year term expires on July 2.
In a press release, the PCO said Marcos appointed Medalla's successor after extensive consultations with the Department of Finance, various government agencies, private banks and financial institutions.
“With his extensive experience and notable achievements in central banking, economic policy, international finance and financial markets, Mr. Remolona brings a wealth of expertise to his new role,” said Secretary Cheloy Garafil.
