President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday thanked recent rains for preventing El Niño.

'Nakangiti ang lahat dahil may ulan, ano? Inaalala natin ng matagal kung en mangyayari dun sa El Niño. It is a good idea to use a tayo in a tayo ay bagyuhin, tayo ay hinila. Hindi naman tayo binagyo, pero hinihila yung ulan ditto,” Marcos Jr. said. in his speech at the 125th founding anniversary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The president ordered the National Irrigation Administration to “make full use of the rains” and divert rainwater for irrigation.
“Kokontrolin is dealing with flooding. Make sure that the irrigation [administration] takes full advantage of all this rain,” he said.
