Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque has suggested that Vice President Sara Duterte temporarily take over the presidency after he suggested that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. may have a chronic illness.
Harry Roque laughs at Liza Marcos: Sara Duterte is VP. Who are you?
In his August 10 column for the Philippine Star, Roque said Marcos must prove “that he is in the right frame of mind to continue leading the nation” amid ongoing allegations of illegal drug use.
Any form of addiction, Roque added, is classified as a chronic disease by the World Health Organization (WHO).
"If he is indeed suffering from a chronic illness or health condition, I respectfully suggest that he allow the constitutional successor to assume power in an acting capacity. He knows that his current vice president is not power-hungry and would not take over his elected position. Otherwise, she would not have offered him the presidency on a silver platter in 2022," said the former spokesman of ex-president Rodrigo Duterte.
