President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of Trade Minister Alfredo Pascual and will soon announce his successor.

Pascual decided to resign from his DTI post due to plans to return to the private sector, the Presidential Communications Office said. His resignation is effective August 2.
Marcos met with Pascual on Wednesday, where he acknowledged his efforts to improve the local economy. He admitted that he regrets Pascual's departure, but respects his decision to move on.
Pascual, a banker and former president of UP, took the oath as trade chief in December 2022.
