President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. thanked United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for pardoning three convicted Filipinos, two of whom were on death row and already serving their sentences in the emirate.

In a telephone conversation with Sheikh Mohamed, Marcos Jr. expressed his gratitude for the granting of his two-month-old request. On April 27, the president asked Sheikh Mohamed to grant humanitarian clemency to three Filipino prisoners in two separate letters.
Two of the three prisoners were sentenced to death for drug trafficking, while the third was sentenced to 15 years in prison for defamation.
Marcos Jr. also thanked the UAE President for sending 50 tons of food and medicine to families displaced by the Mayon Volcano eruption.
