Margaret Menegoz, producer of 'Amour' and 'The White Ribbon', has died at age 83
Margaret Menegoz, the producer of world-famous authors such as Michael Haneke and Wim Wenders, has died at the age of 83.
Menegoz was praised for her leadership of Les Films du Losange, an acclaimed production and distribution company that she ran with an iron fist for 46 years, driven by her passion for independent films and new voices.
Born in Hungary in 1941 during World War II, Menegoz grew up in Germany and ventured into the film industry after meeting her husband, Robert Menegoz, and traveling the world with him making documentaries. She joined Les Films du Losange in 1975, starting as an assistant to respected directors Eric Rohmer and Barbet Schroeder, who had co-founded the company in 1962. She quickly rose through the ranks to become a manager of the company.
