The eight-episode show, which hails from Kevin Williamson, was originally greenlit by Netflix in May. Bello is now the second confirmed cast member, joining Holt McCallany, on the series.
According to the official logline, “The Waterfront” is inspired by true events and “delves into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to maintain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”
Bello will play the role of Mae Buckley. Mae is described as "A complex woman married to Harlan (McCallany) and the mother of their two children. After her husband steps back from the family business, she and their son run the fishery in highly questionable ways in a desperate attempt to save the family."
