According to People Magazine, Marilyn Monroe died presumably on August 4, 1962, from an overdose and "probable suicide." However, the date and time of her death are listed as August 5 at 3:50 a.m. The coroner's toxicology report determined her cause of death to be acute barbiturate poisoning. At the time, Monroe was under the constant care of a physician and psychiatrist. To treat her mental health issues, she was prescribed numerous medications, but Monroe tragically died after ingesting a lethal dose of a drug called Nembutal, which is used to treat anxiety. She also ingested a large dose of chloral hydrate, a tranquilizer.
