While Marvel and DC have traditionally been rivals of one another, Kevin Feige isn't ruling out the possibility of an MCU-DCU crossover film at some point in the future. He was asked about such a project during a recent interview, and his answer has offered some hope to fans eager to see DC characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman share the screen with Marvel characters like Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Captain America.
Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Open to DCU Crossover: “Never Say Never”!
With Deadpool & Wolverine's U.S. release date just days away, Feige spoke to Collider in an interview about another possible team-up film. This potential film would feature characters from both DC and Marvel coming together in a potential MCU-DCU crossover event.
When Feige was asked if such a project could ever happen, especially now that James Gunn, a former MCU director, is co-head of the DCU, his answer was both practical and hopeful. "I mean, I think about it every now and then, as any fan would think about it," he told Collider. "I don't know when that would ever happen, or how that would happen. But we've talked about it for too long to say, 'Never! We could never do that.' We'll never say never, but no, no plans."
As it stands now, the crossover is a distant possibility. But the franchises, despite being competitors, can coexist and thrive. Feige revealed to the same outlet that he had seen paparazzi shots from the Superman set and said it looked "cool." He added, "So he [Gunn] is focused on that. We're focused on this [Deadpool & Wolverine and other upcoming MCU projects]."
