PREVIOUS, 8:10 AM: Fears of a U.S. recession spilled over to global markets, with the DJIA falling as much as 1,200 points in premarket and down more than 1,000 points in early trading. An overnight selloff in Japan first sent a beating through Asia and Europe, and now the United States.
Media and tech stocks took a beating, with red across the board. Warner Bros Discovery is down nearly 8% and the last thing the faltering stock needed was a global market drop. But today, there were falls everywhere, from Disney and Netflix to Apple and Amazon, and from broadcasters, operators and social media.
Early in the session, the Nasdaq was down 3.6%, the S&P 500 was down 3% and the DJIA was down about 2.4%.
