Menendez Brothers: LA County DA to Review New Evidence, What It Means | West Coast Wrap
Ryan Murphy’s Netflix hit Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is back in the news. The siblings’ sordid murder case, which has been going on for decades, is back in the spotlight today, thanks to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Without any insight or judgment based on the Menendez brothers' evidence and a habeas corpus petition for resentencing, District Attorney George Gascón stepped before the microphones on Thursday to declare that his office is "reviewing" the case.
“We’re not saying there was anything wrong with the original trial,” the re-election-seeking Gascón added, noting that the DA’s office has “obtained evidence” about the 1989 murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez by their sons. The politically beleaguered DA’s time in front of the cameras today came just as criminal defense attorney and frequent Ryan Murphy collaborator Kim Kardashian sent a letter to NBC News requesting that “the life sentences of Erik and Lyle Menendez be reconsidered.”
