Jaafar Jackson, cousin of Michael Jackson and star of Lionsgate's upcoming biopic about the King of Pop, has signed a representation contract with CAA.
Jaafar Jackson – I Sing
Jackson will make his acting debut playing his late uncle in the Antoine Fuqua-directed Michael, set to hit theaters worldwide in April 2025. The film promises to offer audiences a compelling and honest portrait of the brilliant but complicated man, examining Jackson’s triumphs and tragedies—from his humanity, to his public and private struggles, to the accusations and the 24/7 media microscope Jackson lived under, even at his artistic peak. Pic will also capture Michael’s undeniable creative genius, resurrecting some of his most memorable, iconic performances.
Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller and Laura Harrier are among those set to appear opposite Jackson. John Logan wrote the script, with Graham King producing for GK Films, along with John Branca and John McClain, the co-executors of Michael Jackson's estate. Lionsgate is distributing the film in the U.S. and Japan, while Universal Pictures has the rights for all offshore territories.
Despite being part of such a rich musical family tradition, Jaafar didn’t start playing the piano and singing until he was 12 years old, with the intention of pursuing a career in music. Outside of his artistic pursuits, he dedicates his time to organizations that work to end human trafficking and world hunger.
