When AVATAR 3 Comes Out & NOTES Executives Gave James Cameron For ALL AVATAR SEQUELS
At D23, Cameron spoke to EW about Avatar 3, now officially titled Avatar: Fire and Ash. Cameron confirmed Yeoh's involvement in the fourth and fifth films in the franchise. However, the Wicked actress will not be seen in Avatar 3.
"Michelle Yeoh is not going to be in 3. She's in 4 and 5," Cameron told EW. "So that's been a little bit misreported. She's coming in soon to play her role, which is an interesting, fun character. I mean, we're getting ahead of ourselves now. This whole thing has been planned for years and years. The scripts were all written years ago, up until the end of movie 5. So we've been working on parts of 4 as we've gone along, especially because we have this young cast. We had to film them all when they were young."
In 2019, Yeoh stepped into the Avatar sequels in the lead role of Dr. Karina Mogue. In an Instagram photo by the late Jon Landau, Yeoh and Cameron posed "among rigs during the filming of Avatar 3." While Yeoh's Avatar debut is still years away, Cameron is looking forward to working with the Oscar-winning actress.
