In the run-up to the US presidential election, Mipcom Cannes will shine the spotlight on the New York Times bestseller “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass.”
The book, written by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, examines the pivotal role of the reality series The Apprentice in launching Donald Trump's political career and its impact on popular culture.
The session, scheduled for October 23, will be presented by Setoodeh in the Grand Auditorium at the Palais des Festivals. Setoodeh, who conducted six full-length interviews with Trump, will explore how the cult of celebrity and the rise of the reality genre in the early 1990s catapulted Trump to the White House and created one of the most influential and commercially successful American series of all time.
