Mitzi McCall and Charlie Brill recall appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show with The Beatles in 1964
Mitzi McCall, who wrote 11 films, 14 television shows and provided voice-overs for numerous animated series during her 50-year career in the entertainment industry, died on August 8 at her home in Studio City, California, at the age of 91. No details were available about the cause of death.
Her husband and comedy partner, Charlie Brill, confirmed her death in a Facebook post. “I lost my Mitzi last night. Rest in peace my only love… Rest in peace and smile.”
McCall and Brill appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964, best known as the Beatles' American television debut; the pair's performance is featured on the DVD of the Beatles' appearance on the show. They were interviewed in 2005 for the "Big Break" episode of Public Radio International's This American Life about their Beatles-Sullivan experience, including a dressing room encounter with John Lennon.
