The Philippines and Germany have pledged to continue working together to finalize a broader defense cooperation agreement before the end of the year.

During a courtesy call with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in Malacañang on Monday, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said he had a "wonderful" meeting with his counterpart, Defense Minister Gilberto Teodoro Jr.
The two top defense officials met on Sunday and agreed to revive defense ties between the Philippines and Germany.
"We have both decided that we want a security and defence agreement between our two countries, and we want to try to sign it (before) the end of the year," Pistorius told the president.
