Parker Posey has overcome her recent jet lag by doing something she says she's never been good at: watching herself on TV.
'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' guest star Parker Posey on her first-ever Emmy nomination: 'I was so shocked'
During a quick trip home from filming Season 3 of HBO's "The White Lotus" in Thailand, Posey caved to pressure from her friends to turn on Prime Video's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," for which she's nominated for her first-ever Emmy. Though she attended the premiere in January, where she watched the first two episodes, she hadn't watched the rest until her friends convinced her to.
Days later, she was still raving about it. “It’s just so satisfying to see great actors do great work with a great script,” she tells Variety. “It’s very mature. It’s funny and witty and subtle in all the right ways.”
The Television Academy agreed, giving the spy series 16 nominations, three of which were in the guest actress category for Posey alone (alongside Michaela Coel and Sarah Paulson). Director Hiro Murai recently described the lineup of guest stars, which also includes Ron Perlman and John Turturro, as "the Avengers of character actors."
