🔴Mr. Throwback Bosses Explains Why Steph Curry Was Both a 'Dream Come True' and 'Annoying' to Deal With at Work 🏀
Stephen Curry couldn’t have done a better PR job for his first TV show than his appearance Thursday at the Paris Olympics. The four-time NBA champion scored 36 points and shot nearly 70 percent from three-point range to power Team USA to a comeback victory that sent them into a gold-medal game against France. Even sweeter for his “Mr. Throwback” staff, the game came on the comedy series’ launch day on Peacock, which has been covering the Olympics all day.
“I like to think Stephen did that for us,” David Caspe, the show’s executive producer and writer, half-jokes during a Zoom interview on Thursday afternoon. “It’s launch day, and he’s like, ‘You know what? I’m going to get 36 points to drive extra attention to our TV show.’ That was really his master plan.”
The Olympics serve as a sequel of sorts to “Mr. Throwback,” which ends with Curry flying to Paris for the games. He’s accompanied by his manager Kimberly (Ego Nwodim) and his high school teammate Danny Grossman (Adam Pally), who’s just been forgiven after belatedly pouring out his heart to Curry and the world about a conspiracy involving his daughter with a terminal illness. In response, Curry lashes out at Grossman early in the finale — a climax that comes after the NBA star has been up for every kind of comedic bit throughout the season’s six episodes.
