In the first official comments from a media partner in the NBA's upcoming $76 billion TV rights bonanza, Comcast President Mike Cavanagh said Tuesday that the league will be a fixture for NBCUniversal for "decades to come."

The executive said Comcast expects to announce an 11-year deal with the NBA “soon.” So far, a series of reports in various media outlets, attributed to anonymous sources, have indicated that Disney has rejoined the league. A third package is being pursued by Prime Video and Warner Bros. Discovery.
After reports suggested that Amazon had secured the rights, WBD said on Monday that it was claiming its associated rights, ending a long-prepared series of deals.
“We do not believe the matching rights resolution will impact the package that we expect to receive,” Cavanagh said today during Comcast's second-quarter earnings call.
