The pandemic and Hollywood strikes have helped get the box office for independent cinema back on track, distribution executives told a panel Saturday at the Zurich Summit, a gathering of the film industry.
“We’ve been in a ditch trying to get out,” said Rebecca Kearey, head of international affairs at Searchlight Pictures, which enjoyed box office success with Poor Things late last year and into 2024.
