Netflix is raising the price of some subscriptions in the UK
Netflix saw its UK profits soar last year, while its tax burden doubled.
The streamer, which has been reporting revenue from UK subscribers through its Netflix Services UK subsidiary for only the third year, saw operating profit rise 70%, or £22 million ($28 million), to £53.7 million ($70 million). Also in good news for the SVoD was that Netflix’s “membership base,” or the number of subscribers, rose 7%, double the previous year, while there was an increase in the “average number of paid memberships and an increase in average monthly revenue per paid membership,” according to the filing to Companies House.
No subscriber figures are given, but according to ratings agency Barb's latest Q2 report, Netflix was available in 17.1 million homes in the UK, up about 400,000 from the first quarter.
