Upon its release in 2020 on Netflix, The Platform proved to be a huge success, with unexpectedly high viewing figures. The Spanish horror film eventually became one of the big summer hits for the famous streaming platform. Although the film was criticized by critics for its disjointed story, its overwhelming digital performance convinced Netflix to begin development on its sequel, The Platform 2.
Platform 2's Netflix Movie Review
Four years after its predecessor debuted on Netflix, The Platform 2 has now been released to worse reviews than the original film. Still, the sup-par critical response hasn’t stopped the Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia directorial venture from climbing Netflix’s ratings charts.
Despite receiving negative reviews from all sides, The Platform 2 still became the most watched film on Netflix last week.
According to streaming figures released by Netflix, the horror sequel reportedly generated 32.6 million hours of views over the weekend. The report, compiled by the entertainment giant, includes viewing figures from September 30 through October 6, according to ComicBook.com. Despite not releasing until October 4, The Platform 2 still dominated all other content on Netflix over the weekend. The recently released action-comedy Trouble came in second place, with more than 16 million hours watched last week.
