More than 250 international guests, including 53 buyers from 18 countries, have registered for the Norwegian International Film Festival's three-day industry event New Nordic Films in Haugesund, which celebrates its 30th anniversary and kicks off on August 20 with Charlotte Sieling's drama "Way Home".

Some of the best filmmakers from the region and beyond – including Erik Poppe, Dag Johan Haugerud, Selma Vilhunen, Zaida Bergroth and Rúnar Rúnarsson – will screen or pitch their next projects, alongside dozens of emerging talents.
“Our DNA hasn’t changed,” says Line Halvorsen, who joined New Nordic Films four years ago and is temporarily acting director, replacing Gyda Velvin Myklebust.
“Our core is to gather Nordic filmmakers and industry people interested in Nordic films, to serve as a launch pad for new talents and to put the latest trends in the industry in the spotlight. Together with our twin event at the Gothenburg Nordic Film Market, we are here to support our Nordic industry, and the more attention Nordic films can get, the better it is for everyone, especially in this difficult market,” Halvorsen emphasized.
