A new poll confirmed Sunday that Kamala Harris, who will soon announce her vice presidential nomination, has moved into a tie with Donald Trump, accelerating the race for the White House that the Republican had increasingly been certain of winning.
New polls show Harris ahead of Trump
With the Nov. 5 election fast approaching, Harris has eroded the growing lead Trump built before President Joe Biden abandoned his re-election bid.
According to the CBS News/YouGov poll released Sunday, Harris has a 1 percentage point lead over Trump nationally, compared to Trump's previous five percentage point lead over Biden.
In the swing states that determine the battle for the Electoral College in US elections, Harris and Trump – who shocked the world with his victory in the 2016 presidential election, but was defeated by Biden in 2020 – are evenly matched.
