Special On-Screen Live Coverage of the 2024 New York Film Festival, Part 1 / Megalopolis Review
The New York Film Festival, now in its 62nd year, is one of the longest film festivals, lasting over two weeks. The festival features some of the longest documentaries ever.
My Undesirable Friends: Part I – Last Air in Moscow, directed by Julia Loktev, runs almost 5.5 hours. Together, Wang Bing’s Youth (Homecoming) and Youth (Hard Times), both screening at NYFF, run just over 6 hours. That’s short compared to Exergue, the documentary directed by Dimitris Athyridis, which runs 14 hours.
Exergue, which premiered at the Berlinale in February and was subsequently shown at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival in Greece, is an exploration of the 14th edition of Documenta, the five-yearly event considered the most important contemporary art exhibition in the world.
