Analysis of the News Corp split
Rupert Murdoch's News Corp could sell its Australian pay-TV provider Foxtel Group.
At the end of a commentary on what News Corp CEO Robert Thomson called an "excellent" financial year for Murdoch's news division, it was revealed that there had been overseas interest in Foxtel, which has more than four million subscribers across Australia and owns Colin From Accounts streamer Binge, among others.
Thomson said a review of the News Corp business “recently coincided with a third-party interest in a potential transaction with the Foxtel Group, which has been positively transformed in recent years. We are evaluating options for the business with our advisers in light of that third-party interest.”
